As one of the most well known producers of commercial electrical systems, you wouldn’t think Hubbell would need help getting people connected.
But with more than 12,000 employees spread across 10 countries and no unified company-wide intranet, keeping everyone in the organization on the same page was quite a challenge.
We were tasked with creating Hubbell’s first intranet portal—one centralized online access point to help unite their increasingly diverse and distributed global workforce.
After more than 100 employee interviews, focus groups, surveys, design explorations and experience roadmaps, we landed on a solution: The Wire.
The Wire is designed to bring all of Hubbell’s employees together—from C-level to management, engineering, operations, IT, marketing and everything in between—by fostering better communication, encouraging collaboration, and improving efficiency and productivity.
We created a “One Hubbell” experience, helping unite employees from across the globe by highlighting important products and projects on the homepage and throughout the site. And we included a more powerful Search to connect employees to the information they need, along with Communities, a People Finder, and document sharing and commenting features to connect them to one another.
Since its launch, The Wire has been more than just a website for Hubbell employees—it’s been a lifeline.
