Senior Cloud Engineer

The Senior Cloud Engineer delivers and supports technical solutions using cutting edge technologies and industry best practices to implement cloud platforms for internal and external customers.
Reporting to the Head of our Cloud Hosting and Product Team, you will join at an exciting time in delivering the new Technology Strategy. As the Senior Cloud Engineer in the Cloud Platform squad, you will promote the use of automation to solve technical challenges, and strive to create reliable, secure, performant and cost-effective solutions. This squad provides shared services and standard automated builds to empower autonomy and a DevOps culture within the Product Squads along with supporting the internal systems of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate infrastructure with minimal downtime;
  • Engineer and automate cloud infrastructure and core components;
  • Implement and test CI/CD pipelines/jobs;
  • Solve technical problems and create viable tooling;
  • Take responsibilities of implementing security policies and permissions in cloud-based infrastructure;
  • Ensure stable and secure operations of cloud workloads;
  • Select appropriate technical approaches and their best use according to product requirements;
  • Design and implement shared services in cloud infrastructure;
  • Use best appropriate infrastructure automation tools to provision cloud infrastructure components;
  • Actively contribute to internal projects such as tooling and documentation;
  • Mentor team members;
  • Any other duties in the scope of the role that the company requires.
     
Qualifications
  • 7-10 Years of IT infrastructure experience
  • Bachelors Degree in IT or other technical discipline preferred
  • Expert-level Windows and Linux OS support and troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced Cloud and on-prem networking skills including ELB, VPC, VPN, CGW, Security Groups, Routing tables, etc…
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto Firewall technology on-prem and in the cloud
  • Expert-level knowledge of AWS tools and services such as: EC2, S3, Cloudwatch, IAM, RDS, KMS, SNS, SQS, Cloudformation, Autoscale, Automation
  • Working knowledge of Aviatrix
  • Working knowledge of Python programming language
  • Knowledge of Terraform, Containers a plus
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification or similar required
